Functions of the Religious Council:
Ganey Tikva Religious Council provides a number of main kinds of religious services:
Marriage / marriageable status
Every resident is entitled to ask for a certificate to show their marriage status or register to be married. To do so, the must produced the following: ID card including slip, 3 photos, marriage certificate, parents' address, and two witnesses to witness that the parties are entitled to be married.
Divorcees must also include the divorce certificate + record of court ruling.
Fee for opening a marriageable status certificate file – NIS 135.
Fee for opening a marriage certificate file – NIS 600 (soldiers, students, Yeshiva students, national service volunteers, or welfare cases authorized by the Social Services Bureau are entitled to a 40% discount).
The fee for opening a marriage certificate file includes the following:
Rabbinical services for the bride (including two sessions on "the Jewish household")
Services of a rabbi for the huppa (marriage canopy).
Newspaper publication.
The ketuba (marriage contract).
Reception hours for marriage registration: Monday and Tuesday 4:30 p.m. - 5:45 p.m.
Kashrut
The Religious Council grants kashrut certificates to Ganey Tikva businesses wishing to sell kosher food. Kashrut and kashrut supervision fees are based on the size and kind of business.
Eruv
The upkeep of the ritual demarcation line encompassing the community (eruv) to enable the carrying of objects within the community on the Sabbath and holidays.
Mikvehs
Ganey Tikva has a number of mikvehs (ritual baths). For details contact: 03-6351632
Religious objects
Prayer shawls, mezuzahs and tefillin (phylacteries) may be purchased at a considerable discount with the recommendation of the Religious Council.
