Operations, Infrastructure, Maintenance and Environmental Protection Department

The Council invests considerable resources in developing and caring for the environment in Ganey Tikva. quality of the environment

The Operations Department is the unit responsible for routine maintenance work: infrastructure – sewage, water, drainage and lighting. It is also responsible for dealing with various types of hazards - sanitation, waste collection, yard waste, water and sanitation inspection, caring for and upgrading public parks, maintenance of educational and public institutions, and public infrastructure.

Special focus is placed on public parks and on the inspection and care of outdoor play equipment to ensure it complies with the standards of the Standards Institution of Israel.

The Operations Department is responsible for the municipal call center, and for business control and licensing.

Department responsibilities:

  • Hazard call center – the call center is available 24 hours a day to answer calls on hazards and problems reported by residents, staff of educational institutes and the public of Ganey Tikva.
  • Caring for the environment, cleaning and dealing with yard waste and increasing the amount of pure yard waste transported to the transfer station –
    • Organizing with the transfer to waste separation into two sorts: wet waste and dry waste.
    • Setting up seven large waste recycling posts, which will be positioned around the community in accordance with the master plan.
  • Gardening and irrigation – caring for and upgrading gardening in the community. Continuing to computerize the irrigation systems at public parks. (Computerization has contributed to conserving, controlling and supervising water conservation and preventing the waste of water, which is a precious resource).
  • Water and sanitation inspection – regular tests of drinking water, pest control in public areas to prevent mosquitoes and pests and veterinary services. (Food checks, vaccination and catching stray dogs).
  • Business licensing – dealing with applications for business licenses.
  • Requests to allocate parking spaces for the handicapped – answering requests according to transport committee criteria.
  • Improving accessibility – improving physical accessibility in public areas and institutions: improving sidewalkhapisga infrastructure:
    • Lowering the sidewalk at crosswalks
    • Removing hazards from access routes, parks and public buildings
    • Improving accessibility at bus stops and completing ramps in public buildings for people with handicaps and strollers.
  • Supervision – running the local supervision unit, operating under local bylaws. The unit helps to ensure cleanliness and order in the community for the benefit of residents and visitors.
